The wanderings of a madman

Amsterdam

History, Culture and some of the more diverse architecture I have seen. Amsterdam has s much to offer. Each corner turned although similar in design holds small details easily missed, unless you know where to look. Those details give the city its character shedding light on cultures and subcultures within.

The Walkabout

Although I was only in `Amsterdam for a short time I made sure I had a chance to see as much of the architecture dotted around the city. Specifically I wanted to see the variety of architecture that this cultural hotspot had to offer.

The little things

Often overlooked, it is the little things that can give you a real understanding of the place you’re in. From the stickers on the lamp posts to the type of transport most used, things that might seem ordinary can open your eyes to a whole world of differences.

The people that make it

After all is said and done, it really is the people that make a place what it is today. Day to day life and regular goings on seem somehow different and yet the same. Amsterdam really is a place that has a little something for each person. Wether it is the location itself and its buildings with all the fun things to do inside them, or perhaps the small details that can uncover strange aspects of life that might differ from your own. But for me its the people, the differences in culture that shape the people is the reason I love to travel and the reason I will be returning to Amsterdam.
